The Ultimate SEO Website Checklist: Create a Website That Converts

Are you about to launch you website? Here's something important you should consider - SEO optimisation!

SEO stands for "search engine optimisation," which is the practice of optimising a website for it to rank highly in search engines. Free organic traffic through Google search, with an audience that’s searching for YOUR services or products? YES please. Hello leads!

Use this checklist to SEO your website and reach your target audience!

  1. Add a website title and description.

    Google prioritises websites based on their site title and description.

  2. Add description to all of your pages.

    Most web building websites such as Squarespace have a built-in SEO settings for you to work through to get ranking on Google.

  3. Check all your URL's and slugs.

    A website "slug" comes after your main URL. For example, your services page could be “mywebsite.com/services”. Check your slugs and make sure they make sense.

  4. Rename images on your website.

    Google reads image titles. Your original images are probably named something like “d432.jpeg” Rename your images with keywords that relate to your business and photo. Example, when we post a sample of out portfolio we would name it “classic logo design”

  5. Fix broken links.

    Google doesn’t like broken link. Make sure to click through every button and link on your website to make sure that it works.

  6. Make sure your blog post titles are searchable.

    Name your blog posts something that people are searching for on google. For example "How to build your digital marketing strategy".

  7. Add your location.

    If your business is location based, make sure to add it either on your contact page or the footer of your website.

  8. Make sure to submit your sitemap to google.

    By submitting a sitemap you are essentially telling Google what's on your website. This is the most effective way for Google to to read your site properly and make it more discoverable.

  9. Work on building quality inbound links.

    These are links that point to your website from other websites. For example, if someone mentions your website on their blog, this is considered an "inbound link". You can collaborate and run partnerships, write features, guest blog posts to get your website featured on other high quality sites.

  10. Create high quality content and blog posts.

    Keep consistent with uploading and creating high quality, keyword orientated blog posts on your website. This will help Google increase your website rankings.
